The Start of Christmas!

Today at The Studio we had another great sketch to create from. To see the sketch and the rest of the DT creations go here. Here's my page:
I thought it looked just like a big present so I used a photo of my nephew opening his presents last Christmas. I stayed quite close to the sketch.

I was meant to be back with my Christmas journal prep earlier than this but I don't know where the time is going to be honest!
Anyway here are a few of the foundation pages, I've made it the same size (8'' x  5'') as last years as I loved last years so much and it seemed to work for me. If you would like to see my last years album it's here. Here is this years:

I have used the lovely papers from Carta Bella, I really love them! Sorry but it hasn't got a front cover yet!!! I have started filling it but I'll be back with that in another post!
Thanks for looking!

Layers

This weeks challenge at the Studio was to use layers on your layout. It wasn't hard as I like using layers! First of all I printed rings with paint using none other than an empty toilet roll!! I then layered some stamping on the top and added my layers of papers and shapes on top of that!
The photo is of my nephew with his face printed as a scary monster at his birthday party! I took the colours from it to use in my layout.

I'm quite behind with my Christmas journal as I've been so busy but I will catch up now it's a bit quieter and be back with it soon, promise!!

Thanks for looking! xx

Pass the Parcel

Ooo it's been a bit quiet in here! I haven't had a printer to print photos lately so there hasn't been much scrapping happening and I've been super busy! I got my new printer up and running on Friday so I just managed to join in with Sunday's The Studio's sketch challenge!
Valerie created a great sketch again (see it here), so it wasn't hard to make this layout the only real difference I made was to change the tags for parcels to go with my photo of my nephew's Birthday party and a game of Pass the parcel!
I really enjoyed making this, I've missed creating! I love my new printer, prints great photos so hopefully more scrapping to come! I've also been creating lots of other stuff so I'll be back to show you some of that soon!

Also been thinking about my Christmas journal, I will be making one again this year I loved last years so it will be difficult to bet it, but I'll try! I need to get on with!!

Thanks for stopping by! xx

Crocheted Cushion

Don't think I showed you the crocheted cushion I made so thought I should! I started making these granny square as a blanket for myself but as I was making my nephew blanket at the same time I got a bit bored of making squares so it turned into a cushion cover instead!! I love these pretty spring colours!
For the back I started with a granny square and just kept on going until it was bigger enough to cover the back!
I put some lovely big buttons on to keep the opening closed.
And as it's Halloween I thought I would leave you with a photo my creepy cupcakes!!
Happy Halloween, have a spooky evening!!!

A Sketch and a Cake!

There is a new sketch up over at The Studio today, it's another great one too! I kept quite close to it I just swapped the hearts with circles!
I still have printer problems I battled with it this week and now I think I will have to get a new one, I can't complain really the amount it has printed! Luckily I found this photo that I had already printed out and it had to be scrapped! Another cute photo of my nephew, he loved pretending to be a doctor so was given a doctors kit with everything in, we all had to be his patients and he wouldn't take this doctors coat off!!

Last weekends fair I did went really well and here's is the cake I made for last weekend too, the formula 1 car! Or should I say a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, I know this car quite well now, it's this years model too! I must admit this was tricky, the wheels were a nightmare as the cake was so soft and the icing didn't want to stay on!

It was sat on a cake too, I decorated that as the checked flag! Want do you think? Did I pull it off?!!

Family Fun

Today at The Studio is all about creating a layout about family. For the past few years it has become a tradition for all our family to go on a family picnic so I had to scrap about that seeing as I hadn't got around to scrapping last years yet!
Last year we went to Longleat Safari Park, we had a great time seeing all the animals and then had our picnic, we all take something different to share with everyone so we end up with a great spread! Of course I'm always responsible for the sweet treats!!

I used some lovely October Afternoon, Cake Walk papers and notice my new Studio Calico little people, how cute are they! Go and check a look at the inspiration from The Studio design team and we are also joined by some of the Teresa Collins DT this month and you can win a great prize from Teresa Collins too!

I've got a busy week ahead getting ready for a fair and making a special cake for next weekend!

Numbers

The first challenge of the month at The Studio was all about using numbers on your layout. I unfortunately couldn't join in as my printer was having a funny time of it and wouldn't work, luckily it is now fixed so I thought I would do the challenge anyway! It's a bit bright!!
I used a photo of my nephews blanket that I crocheted for him and the title had to be the number of Granny squares I used for it, which was 208!!
I even crocheted a string of chains to put on it!

It was my sister-in-laws Birthday last Friday so I made her this card, it was good for using up bits that were left sitting on my desk, I'm pleased with how it turned out though!

We had our annual family picnic this last weekend unfortunately we chose to have it on the Sunday which was the worst day! I don't think it really stopped raining all day so we had our picnic at my sisters house instead and then went out for a walk. It was a shame the weather spoilt it but we still had a good time!

Thanks for looking.

Hanging

Today over at The Studio we have another great sketch from our lovely DT member Valerie, she makes great sketches, they are so easy to use!
Here's my take on it:
I painted the two main circles on my page and added some twine to them. I then created the third circle using silver pen but it really didn't like being photographed so you can hardly see it in the photo!

I really like how this layout turned out! Everyone on the DT did an amazing job on this sketch so make sure you go and take a look here!

Friday I spent the day making a cake for my nephews little friend, he wanted a Octonauts cake which are funny little characters that live under the sea! Anyway this is it!
It took quite a while to do but I enjoyed doing it and everyone said it was amazing so that makes it all worth while!

Patriotic Cupcakes

Here's a new layout I haven't got around to showing you yet. I felt like trying something a little different with this one! I've seen lots of pages with strips across the top and bottom which look great and it's something I haven't done that much in my scrapping so I thought I would give it a go! I think the trick is to make it look balanced so I kept the middle bit quite simple!
The photo is of the cupcakes I made for the Jubilee, I went a bit crazy decorating them so they were real celebration cupcakes and in red, white and blue of course! I made little flags to put in them too so I added one of them on to the page!
It was nice try something a bit different and I quite like how it turned out!
Hope you like it!

Crocheted Garlands

A little while ago I started making crocheted garlands to sell in my shop. I made this first one with pink and yellow flowers on and it sold quite quickly in my Etsy shop so I thought I would make some more!
I have a go at making crocheted stars for this one, thought these soft colours would be nice for a baby's bedroom/nursery. It is for sale in my Etsy shop HERE.
I thought I would make another flowery one too but in different colours this time and with no hearts just flowers. It's for sale in my Etsy shop HERE.
Hope you like them!

More Tuscany Tales

I was looking at my holiday album of when we went as a family to Tuscany a couple of years ago. I really like it, it's great to look back at. It just doesn't have enough pages in it!! There is quite a lot I left out so I decided I was going to do more of it so here is a couple of quick pages I knocked up!
I really enjoyed scrapping in this size again. I painted blue paint on the top and bottom edges and then clustered bits and pieces!
We spent quite a lot of time relaxing by the pool!
On this one I stamped bubble wrap with yellow paint. My little nephew in his poncho towel, he was in it a lot after he had been in the pool! Cute!

There will probably be more to come as I'm enjoying it! There are pages that need to be in this album!

3 Years

Today at The Studio we have another lovely sketch that Valerie, our sketch artiste made for us to create with. It was a great sketch with lots you can do with it so here's my take on it!
We have been waiting for this lovely orchid to flower for 3 years! It just didn't want to flower but we didn't give up on it and it finally came into bud and is still flowering now months later!
I got inspired by an old chipboard flower I found in the back of one of my scrap draws!! I used it first as a mask to go round with chalk, I then used it as a stamp with paint to make the flower shapes and if that wasn't enough I then used it on the page too so it was put to good use!
There's some really great inspiration on how to use the sketch over on the blog and if you enter this month you could win two sets of Teresa Collins clear stamps!

I had a lovely few days away in Devon saw some lovely, and laid on some lovely beaches and the weather wasn't too bad too!

Back soon with more scrapping! xx

208 Squares!

I thought it was about time I showed you my finished crocheted granny square blanket I made for my nephew! What a lot of squares, yes there was 208 of them!! I really enjoyed making them but I made them all and then joined them together which took a long time! maybe it would of been quicker to join them as I made it?! I loved how it turned out in the end though!
I did 3 different colour borders around it.

My little nephew seemed to like it too! It had to go on his bed straight away and it's still there now!!
I'm now making myself a granny stripe blanket, which is really easy and quick too!

Right better go I've got a layout to make and some packing to finish as I'm going to Devon for a few days, hope this weather holds out!

Colour

At The Studio this week we were challenged to try a new technique on a layout that we haven't tried before. I found thinking of a new one quite difficult as I love trying new things! I had a look on Pinterest and that gave me the inspiration to try paper quilting!
A nice colourful layout with photos I took of some of the flower in our garden. I punched out circles with a punch and then folded them to make squares, it works great with the double sided papers as you get to see both sides of it!
Talking of The Studio, thanks for all the great comments on the Olympic blog hop, I loved reading them all! The winner of my Summer Leaf embellishment kit from The Make and Create Shop is ... Candace, this was her lovely comment!

Lovely LO and such a great place the Olympic stadium is. Would love to visit the site and lets hope all these wonderful venues are put to good use for many years to come

Thanks for the chance to win x

Congratulations Candace, please email me makeandcreate@hotmail.com with your address and I will send the kit out to you!

The Studio is Three!

Today The Studio turns three! I have been lucky enough to be part of this fab design team for 2 1/2 years, I helped run it for the last six months and now I'm DT co-ordinator there, I love it!
So in celebration some of the DT members thought we would share some of our favourite layouts that we've made for The Studio, quite a lot of my favourite layouts came from my challenge layouts so it's really hard to pick! Here are some of them!

I could of gone on and on but I don't want to bore you!
Happy Birthday to The Studio!
