Grandad's Girl

I had this photo printed off for years waiting to be scrapped but I think I got a bit scared to do it as it the last photo I have of me and my grandad together. I was a complete Grandad's girl I loved him to bits so the photo means a lot to me. I came across the photo again recently when I was sorting my stash and I thought I just have to do it as it needs to be in my album. I was a bit worried my layout wouldn't be good enough for it so I decided to go quite simple and let the photo speak for itself.

The layout started with the photo and title that I hand cut out of some paper I know my Grandad would of loved as it was his favourite colours and it also went well with my top in the photo. I then just used the same colours in the mist in the background and the embellishments I used, the star or flower shapes were also hand cut from of another old sheet of patterned paper I had.
In the end I'm quite pleased with how it turned out and it is so nice to have it in my album at last!
Thanks for looking xx

Bucket and Spade

I joined in with The Studio again this Sunday as our challenge was to use multiple photos on your layout. I like using lots of photos at times when you have too many nice photos to choose from and I think they can tell the story without writing too much journalling.
I love these photos I took of my little nephew on the beach with his gaint bucket!
I when with quite a simple design but I went with a brighter background, I always go for white cardstock as I love how it make the colours and patterns of the papers stand out. But I like having different colour backgrounds in my albums as all white can get a bit boring especially in a child's album so I challenged myself to use a coloured one. I went with this green to match the spade in the photos. I did take the easy route though and used white paint on it!

I have got another layout to share so I'll be back soon when I edit the photos of it!xx

Summer

Hi, popping in with another layout to share. I joined in with The Studio Challenges again on Sunday as our theme was Summer. Summer says to me sunny days and holidays so I went with a photo I took in Croatia on holiday last year. I used inks on the background, blue to look like the water in the photo and a bit of yellow to brighten it up. I did a bit of mixed media treatment on it again with some stenciling, stamps and paint splatters.
I will let you into a little secret, it wasn't going to have the blue border around this page but I was sticking something down and the paint splatters weren't quite dry and didnt realise and I got black paint on my hand and then I touched the page... eek nightmare! Anyway it was lucky it was on the edge so I could cut it off and add the background border to it, luckily I had the right colour to match! In the end I think it helps the layout so disaster avoided!

The design team have more inspiration over on the The Studio blog and you have until 14th August to join in with us for this month challenges so there's plenty of time to get creating, we would love to see what you make.

Thanks for looking!
Back soon xx

1st Birthday

Just popping in to share a 8.5" x 11" layout for you today. Quite a simple one but I think it works with the brights colours.
I got a sheet of Simple Stories, Let's Party paper, which I loved but found the elements were a bit on the large side to use as it was so I cut out the banner, bunting and balloons from it to use and raised them to make them stand out.
The photos are of my nephew's first Birthday party, I love how the colours from the paper match the colours in the photos.

Thanks for looking.
Back soon! xx

A little Ray of Sunshine

At The Studio this week we have a great mood board that Lydia from my design team made, it has a lovely summery feel to it. I decided to join in with the design team this time, make sure you go and check out all their layouts too, they did a great job with it and there's lots of inspiration.
For this layout I had fun making a mixed media background with water colours, stamps and a bit of acrylic paint.
I stamped the flowers and used watercolours to colour them, I raised them up to give a bit of height and so they stand out a bit more. The photo is of my gorgeous little niece, she really is a little ray of sunshine and I really love this photo I took of her so it was an easy choice for this mood board.
You got to love a bit of gold sparkle with these lovely glittery Thickers!

No patterned paper was harmed in the making of this layout!

I'm really pleased with how this layout came out and this is only the second layout featuring my niece so it was good to get another done for her album too.

There are more layouts to come, back soon xx

New Niece

Hello Blogland! I'm back! I have still been creating I just fell out of blogging about it! Thought it was about time I added something though and I found these photos in my drafts that I never posted. They are now quite old (apologies) as they are things I made for when my niece was born a year ago now! There does time go?!
I thought you may like to see them though.

First up is the cake I decorated to celebrate the birth of my neice, the cake was my sister's top tier of her wedding cake that has been in the freezer never since so that made it extra special.
I loved decorating it as it was girly and usually I have to do boy cakes for my nephews!
I had great fun piping that grass and making flowers, butterflies and baby clothes etc.

Next up was the blanket I crocheted for her this is not the best photo to show it off, but difficult t get the full thing is a photo!

Here's a close up of all the different stitches. I didn't have a pattern I just made it up as I went along. Love these colours, when I started it I didnt know if it was going to be a girl or boy so the colours were good for both. I only just managed to get it finished in time luckily it was only a pram or cot size blanket!

And here is the bobble edgeing that I did around it to finish it off.

Really pleased with how it turned out and my niece has got a lot of use from it which is good!

I will be back soon with my niece's 1st Birthday cake and something I made for her which will be a bit more up to date!

Thanks for looking! xx
